FAQ
If you’re wondering whether hypnotherapy could be right for you, you may have questions. Here are some of the most commonly asked questions and answers. If you still have a question – lets talk
Absolutely yes! Hypnotherapy is not a tactile form of therapy and so physical proximity is not needed.
I work with clients all over the country and in various parts of Europe and further afield. This has always been achieved successfully via the internet.
Initially when lockdown first occurred, I received enquiries from clients who were very sceptical about how it would work without being in the same room It’s wonderful when clients are amazed at how easy it is to work this way and how they thoroughly immerse themselves in the session with all the benefits of being in their own environment and without the need to travel and park. When clients are unsure like this I offer a trial Zoom appointment so they can see for themselves how easy and relaxed an appointment can be.
Hypnotherapy is unregulated so to ensure you are in safe hands select a registered member of an accredited organisation such as the National Council for Hypnotherapy (NCH). By doing this you can rest assured the hypnotherapist belongs to a body which has qualification requirements alongside their strict Code of Ethical Conduct. The HPD (Hypnotherapy in Practice Diploma) is a a highly respected course which is recognised within the Framework for Higher Education Qualifications in England, Wales and Northern Ireland (FHEQ).
Yes, at all times
No, but you will feel very relaxed.
No, you can become fully alert at any time you choose to.
No. When you are in hypnosis, you are in a deep state of relaxed concentration where if you choose, you can bring yourself around whenever you want to. We find ourselves in a trance state repeatedly throughout our normal daily lives. Where you are doing something you are familiar with you can often find yourself in ‘autopilot’ such as when you are driving a regular route or perhaps doing the ironing. If your attention was needed, it would be back in an instant and the same principle applies to hypnosis.
This will depend on the nature of the problem but guidance can be given at the Initial Consultation (Hyperlink). As with anything worth achieving, your commitment and desire to change is essential. It is easy to say we want to change something but to actually be prepared to commit to it requires effort and sometimes a little courage. However, hypnotherapy is powerful and effective and we will want to help you in the minimum number of sessions possible. Your progress will be reviewed regularly so that at any time you can assess how well you are doing.
This depends on the type of problem and on the progress made. Initially your sessions are usually arranged weekly with a view to extend the periods between them as progress is made. However sessions can be arranged according to individual circumstances. The first session includes a free digitally mastered hypnotherapy recording for you to listen to between sessions.
